Day 30: Ad.

It's hard for me to say what commercial or advertisement moved me this year. Mostly because I don't have cable and the only commercials I usually see are for a Slap Chop or had my dog is barking at the television. I understand advertising is hard work because you have to drag in the consumer. Sure there were some eye catching ads in American Photo or Top Gear magazines this year but I can't remember them.

So here is something that I've remembered all year it is a video taken in Japan at a sushi restaurant.

Day 29: Laugh.

I’ve already mentioned that the Kevin Smith Q&A was one of the funniest things I’d seen all year so I’ve been struggling to think of something else that was so funny this year.

About a month or so ago Shayne and I were walking around downtown Victoria after a Breakfast for Champions and two guys came running past us. Eventually the younger of the two (guy 2) caught up to the older guy (guy 1) and started wailing on him. Someone tried to break up the fight and also got hit. All of a sudden as the Guy 1 who is walking away a dude bicycle comes ripping up the busy sidewalk and flies Superman style off his bike and punches him in the face.

Then the words come out of my mouth “WHAT THE FUCK!” I turn to Shayne to see if I wasn’t hallucinating and clearly I wasn’t judging by his facial expression. As soon as we get by the fight on the street Shayne gets up on his soapbox and talks about cleansing the world of the homeless population. Something about meat grinders and ovens.

Eventually we end up in a coffee shop unable to breath from laughter as we come up with scenarios were Shayne uses a rock as a hammer and some how ends up on fire.

Not so funny. You had to be there.

Day 28: Stationery.

I’m not going to lie to you best stationery is one of the lamest days of this month long “best of 2009” thing I’m doing.

I love writing on my sheets of yellow ruled paper these days. Sure I love my Moleskine but every hipster and person who writes likes those. They are pricey and they say something.

Look at how cool I am! I’m like the Hemmingway of this Starbucks. Oh wait that girl with a beret, vest, and scarf just pulled one out of her vintage bag I better put mine away and keep typing up that screenplay on my Mac.

Personally I’d love one of those pens that you can write upside down, in space, and underwater with but I’ll settle for a regular Bic.

What makes stationery magical? Nothing until you put something magical on it.

Day 27: Social web moment.

The social web moment of the year isn’t so much of a moment but more of a couple hours once a month.  It all started when I participating in the Bent Mast Orgy. A group of younger twitters who are less interested in social networking and business but more the drinking, swearing, and making up perverted sex terms.

They are a fun gang to hang around with. You only have to worry about getting "scorpioned."

Day 26: Insight.

Several times a day I have that Aha! moment where I think that I just solved all of my problems or this is the scheme that is going to make me something more then I am.

Most of them peter away but some stick in the back of my mind for quite some time. Unfortunately most of my ideas involve something I don’t have to invest. Money. One day I’ll figure it out but until then until I’ll save my half baked ideas in one of the 23 half filled notebooks lying around my office.

Maybe I’ll cut and paste them together for one big crazy idea.
