In A Coma.

I wish I had more to say lately, but I haven't.

I do have had something to write, but it's not something I'll be sharing on here for everyone to see.

This morning I got an email asking me why I decided not to do my top ten records this year, and why I decided not to do a daily prompt for December like I have most years.

I sort of decided I wouldn't do a top ten this year last year. I read this article by John Roderick, and it made me think about not doing it really. Also, I find it pretty hard to do a top ten list when I listen to so much new music every year. My short list this year was roughly twenty albums, and well it makes it a little tough to whittle it down to what I listened to more. I will probably end up posting a list of albums I dug this year at some point.

As for the prompts I can honestly say I haven't had the time or energy to put into them. Not with all this television I have to watch. I actually took a look at this years prompts, and decided to say fuck it. Prompts are fun, but when it's a bunch of mommy bloggers (not that I have problems with mommy bloggers) writing the daily prompts it isn't quite what I'd want to write about.

On that note I do need to get my writing for this blog back on track so if you have any ideas for something you'd like to see me write about let me know.

In other news people keep complimenting my beard.

I grew it myself.

Sunday Night.

I'm not going to apologize for the spotty transmissions lately.

It seems like the next week is going to be another week of not really writing anything worthy of putting up here or elsewhere.

Rifflandia is later this week. So look for some massive Rifflandia updates on flickr starting Saturday morning. I'll be shooting at Sugar nightclub, Alix Goolden Hall, and the mainstage at Royal Athletic Park.

Music, photos, food, and drink. Who could ask for more?

End of transmission.

Extreme Frontiers

Convoy by Tyson Elder

Tonight I'm working on a rough draft of a new article to go on Journals Abroad. I'm probably going to throw it on here later on after some editing. It's about travel, but it isn't. It's the first time I've tried writing a flashback. Weird, right? It's about the end of a trip, motorcycles, books, inspiration, and what I did yesterday morning. If you don't know what I did yesterday check out my flickr. If you liked the book/tv series "Long Way Round" you'll dig the photos I took yesterday.

I've never wanted a motorcycle more than yesterday.

Blue Blood.

I know I haven't posted all that much lately. I just haven't had anything to write about. So I've decided to do a week in review.

I have been listening to the Foals album Total Life Forever quite a lot lately. There is no doubt why it made the top spot in my top albums of 2010. The more I listen to it the more I love it. Every time I fire it up I feel like I should be traveling on a train. I think if I wasn't unemployed and broke I'd be doing that right now.

Last week I headed up to Nanaimo to visit my grandparents and brave the local record shop. Fascinating Rhythm is a record store of chaotic breed. The first thing I noticed about the backroom is stacks of unorganized used vinyl and boxes. Sections seem to be labeled properly, but once you get to where you think an artist should be they aren't there. Instead filed under rockabilly, instrumental, or 70's/80's rock. Is it so much to ask for a record store to file every artist alphabetically. Not break it down into genre and several sub genres. It took several tries over my few days there to get a sizable stack of LPs to bring home. Some old country albums, an unopened early pressing of Echo & The Bunnymen's debut album, and some reprints.

I had a roll of film developed up there at a 1hr photo. I'm not a happy camper about how the roll turned out. The prints are cropped awfully, there are white flecks, and well they look terrible. But I guess you get what you pay for when you knowingly hand over your precious rolls of film to teenagers who don't give a shit.

Last week I was interviewed by a couple British newspapers about the events at Goldstream. My photos have appeared in several newspapers, countless news websites, blogs, on television, and the odd conspiracy nuts website. It's been quite the trip since all of this started. There always seems to be a new message or two in my inbox every morning asking me about it. Here is a link to the interview I did with The Sun.

It's official I'm a contributor over at Journals Abroad. I know I've only published one article, but it is just the beginning. There are several articles in the works. Unlike here I won't be posting anything until I'm absolutely certain it is the best content I can put out. So stay tuned for more updates on that. Follow Journals Abroad on Facebook and Twitter.

Seventeen days without alcohol or pop. I know I normally do the sober January thing but this year I wanted to see if I could beat my crippling addiction to the super sugary beverages I know and love. Alcohol has been no problems beating my Coke addiction has been something else. You know Coca-Cola haunts my dreams.

I have been having some very serious talks lately. About politics, movies, music, and the future. Not just any future but my future. I've always known I've had a great support system from everyone, but I'm starting to notice it now. The encouragement I've been getting has given me a huge boost in my self-esteem and I feel like I can do anything.

I'm going to make 2011 my bitch.

Brain Damage.

I'm still decompressing from my short trip to Peru. I'm trying to transcribe my notes into something readable and engaging. Well mainly readable. I filled up my Moleskine with notes and travel stuff. More an observation of the events around the very jet lagged insomniac me.

I had far to much time to think on airplanes.

Reading it I realized how detached from certain things I became. It might be a few days before I get into full details of some of the events but I hope to get it up before the end of the week.
